Red Lead Artist on Call

I was honored recently to be invited by Chris and Sharon of Red Lead to be one of their Artists on Call. If you read my blog you know how much I love Red Lead products. In addition to having a great shop full of wonderful things they host a Yahoo group full of warm and talented "swap sisters" who constantly inspire me. The only downside...the shop is in St. Louis! If it were closer I'd be there every weekend taking one of their workshops. Not that distance has stopped me completely...Quinn treated me last year to a weekend in St. Louis that included one of my favorite workshops! Hmmm...Christmas is coming...maybe I need to whisper something in Santa's ear!

Here are the projects I made with the Red Lead supplies Chris and Sharon sent me.

Old Maid

I found this Old Maid game a few weeks back at the Funky Junk Sisters sale. I love these sweet images and thought I'd share them. There was no information on or in the box so I don't know how old they are or who made them. Enjoy!

Christmas Collages

Do you ever get lost in all your "stuff" while working on a project? I know I do. Maybe it's because I'm so easily distracted by a piece of pretty paper or a face peeking out from under the scraps. Right in the middle of one project all these little bits called me in another direction and these collages were born. You'll see them at the Mixed Media Market of Saturday!

Just a note....

I love notepads...especially small ones. They're so handy for jotting down your thoughts or saving that brilliant idea that comes to you when you're far away from all your craft supplies. My favorite one right now is full of book titles I want to check out next time I go to Barnes & Noble, places and dates for upcoming junking excursions, phone numbers, restaurants to try and even a drawing or two. I decided to alter some small composition books for the Mixed Media Market. If you'd like to try these yourself Dawn from The Feathered Nest has a great tutorial. The lovely silhouette image I've used was generously shared by Diane (finsbry) on Flickr. See you Saturday!

Tag!

Here's another peek at what I'll have on hand at Saturday's Mixed Media Market...tags! I love these tags...I use them for so many things. I like the simple images against the warm color of the tag. Would you like to know how they get that great vintage color? Well, before stamping I give the "fresh out of the package" tags a little instant espresso bath. That's right...instant espresso in a dish of warm water...dip the tags in for a minute or so then let them sunbathe on an absorbent paper towel. Instant aging! I'll have plenty of these on Saturday...can't wait to see you!

Trick or Treat Tags

Look at these sweet tags sent to my by Paula Clare...aren't they the cutest? Paula hosted a three for three Vintage Halloween image tag swap. I took photos of the three tags I made but I guess I lost one between edit and save because I can't find it on my computer anywhere! Maybe a Halloween ghoulie ran off with it....boo!

Wonderful Winnings

Last month Paula Clare of Paula's Palace of Altered Art had a blogoversary drawing and I won! I'd come to know Paula's art through our shared love of all things Red Lead. She has a style that's warm, wonderful and all heart. Just look at the goodies in this giveaway...believe me, I felt like it was Christmas at my house! There are gorgeous papers, stickers, rub-ons and rubber stamps all from the Cosmo Cricket line...one of my favorites! Look at the adorabele cigar box purse...it's filled with lovely fabrics. The wimsey jar is a vintage blue Ball jar filled with trinkets and there's a bag filled with vintage bits and pieces! What a sweet, generous giveaway. Happy Blogoversary Paula and thank you again!

I found a few of these old bridge tally cards while I was thrifting the other day. I love these! I can just imagine the bridge party where these were used...the names in the four cards are Dorothy, Elizabeth, Loretta and Lois. Did they get together weekly? All live in the same neighborhood? What did they talk about? Do you think the four of them are still playing bridge? I wonder....

A New Look

I decided to try a new look on my blog...I've fallen for the wonderful look of Itkupilli's digital art. You should check out her sites...she offers so many of her gorgeous images, blog backgrounds and banners free. Her sites are just a feast for the eyes...there's so much magic and color. I took a little artistic license with the blog banner. It originally had a sweet pup on it but I had to replace him (sorry pup!) with this little party loving sheep. I hope she doesn't mind. Anyway, when you have some time grab a cup of coffee and take a look into Itkupilli's magical world. I know you'll love what you see. Her Etsy shop is also full of gorgeous collage sheets and digital design kits...they're amazing! Go take a look and enjoy yourself!

SoArtful Challenge

Created for the SoArtful challenge on Art Freebies. When I saw this image I thought it would be the perfect background for this sweet pair. The background image is courtesy of the Graphics Fairy and the photo is one I found at a thrift store.
