A Swap for All Seasons

A Swap for All Seasons wrapped up the final swap of the year with a Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue swap. All of the swappers were to send their partners something that fit each category and a vintage wedding photo. This round my partner was our hostess herself, Linda Smith and boy did she ever spoil me with all the delightful goodies she sent! Linda is wonderful online friend...someone I've never actually "met" but someone I know I'd just love to be able to hang out with. She just gets me. Thank you dear friend for putting together this very special package for me!

Linda's taking the rest of the summer off and will host the next A Swap for All Seasons swap sometime this fall. Be sure to check back and join us...her swaps are the best!

ATCs

Now that the Vintage Gluebook class is completed Mary is hosting an ATC swap so we can show off our new paper-and-glue collage skills. I've had so much fun with this class and everyone in the group created such beautiful pages. I can't wait to see everyone's ATCs...it'll be a treat to receive six of them! For my cards I used some Reed bird images, some of Mary's images from the class along with some vintage papers. And I couldn't resist the little brass crowns!

Elson Primary School Reader

I found two beat up grade school readers at a garage sale a few months back and just started scanning some of the pages. These two little books are falling apart...they look torn, worn, colored in...practically loved to death. But, there's still many charming illustrations and sweet stories and poetry. I thought I'd share a few of the least scarred pages. The name of this first book is Elson Elementary School Reader Book Two by William H. Elson and illustrated by H.O. Kennedy and A. Meissner. It has a cppyright date of 1912 so I feel it's fine to share these with you. Enjoy!

Remains of the Day Journal

Several months ago I was lucky enough to win a One World One Heart drawing held by Heather Bluhm of Bluhm Studios. Heather is a very talented mixed media artist and I've admired her work for ages. At the time of the drawing Heather was right in the middle of a big project so she kindly let me know there would be a delay in sending the journal out to me. Well, I recently received it and I can tell you it was SO worth the wait! Heather was inspired by Mary Ann Moss' Remains of the Day online journal class and after seeing this gorgeous journal I wanted to go take the class myself! Its bright and colorful fabric cover holds pages of wonderful papers and bits of ephemera all sewn up into one fabulous journal. Here are a few photos...I love the page with a portion of an Artfest brochure because it's from the first Artfest I attended! One page has an old paper coaster...how did Heather know I have a thing for these?? I've had the journal for a few weeks now but didn't have a chance to really look at it until I returned from visiting my mom. I've turned all the pages several times now and keep finding new things to look at. Thank you so much Heather...I'm just delighted with it!
